Whatchoo-Wish-You-Were-Wearin’ Wednesday: Cool Summer Blues

Whatchoo-Wish-You-Were-Wearin’ Wednesday, baby.

I love this day. It’s the post that allows me to shop without spending money, which is good, since everything I choose on Polyvore seems to fall into the $500+ category.

Cadillac taste on a beer budget, my mom used to say.

Today I’m thinking of summer blues and greens, inspired by a top I saw at my friend Laura’s home the other day. She’s a wonderful gal, and a stylish CAbi consultant, and she knows how to throw together a look. This isn’t the top I bought, but it may just be next on my list, now that I’ve seen it in virtual action. You want it? Click on over to Laura’s site … she’ll hook you up.

And those gorgeous greens? Well, that’s the Linden necklace from Stella & Dot, of course. It’s the first piece I fell in love with from our summer line, and it’s even more stunning in person. Grab a coffee or tea and click on over to see it and other gorgeous June arrivals!

The Problem With Perfection

The Problem With Perfection

Oh, for Pete’s sake.

I popped in to say “hi, I’m back!”  in January and then disappeared again for another 6 months.

Best. Blogger. Ever.

There’s no real reason for it. Just happily going about my days doin’ my thing.

Watchin’ The Boy as he grows, takin’ care of The Man as much as I can—though truthfully, he’s quite independent for a 40-year-old—and enjoying my Stella & Dot business and all the ladies I’ve met along that wonderful path.

Truth is, I freakin’ love my little spot on the web—this little light—but I have a few major character flaws that sometimes keep me away, and gosh, I’m really trying to work on them.

Perhaps you could help.

1. I tend to be an all-or-nothing gal. If I can’t give something 100% of me, I find it unnerving, so I wipe it off my “to do” list altogether.

Some say I have tunnel vision. I like to think of it as an obsessive focus, though I suppose that’s nothing to be proud of.

Actually, I think the bigger problem is …

2. I’m a perfectionist, which—oh, man—is SUCH a drag.

How ridiculous is it to not do something because you think you can’t do it perfectly? What is perfect anyway? It’s subjective, that’s what it is. Ever notice that you get the most compliments on your hair the same day you think it looks like a rat’s nest? You could slave over yourself until every strand falls exactly the way you want it and not a soul will notice, but the morning you walk out the door unsatisfied with your coiffe is the same day someone will tell you you look fantastic.

Try it. It happens.

I’m going to work on both these things going forward.

Life shouldn’t be all or nothing, especially when it involves something you love. And writing, oh, how I love you. Keeps all those little words from bouncing around endlessly in my head.

So anyway, that’s what’s on my mind lately.

Talk to you later this week.

Really.

xo, Me

Whatchoo-Wish-You-Were-Wearin’ Wednesday: How To Warm Up Winter Grey

Whatchoo-Wish-You-Were-Wearin’ Wednesday: How To Warm Up Winter Grey

Well, this morning I’ll be wearing workout gear, in the hopes of negating the fact that in the past 36 hours, I’ve eaten nothing but cranberry-white chocolate chip-oatmeal cookies.

Thank you, Jenny: The birthday treat was delicious … betcha thought Those should last her a week. Nope.

Anywho

We’re in that part of January when grey—one of my favorite colors—starts getting just a little too grey for me. I start looking for spring colors and sunshine, knowing full well that in my neck of the woods, it’s going to be a while before grass in uncovered and lilacs start blooming again.

So you grab your winter gear, the basics, like your most comfy pair of jeans and that warm sweater, and remembering that the beauty’s in the details, you pair them with a few pieces from Stella & Dot’s new Spring 2014 line for color.
