The Pledge

A week or so ago—while standing and chatting among a few wonderful friends—quick thoughts raced through my mind about each one of them.

Her hair looks so pretty today.

She truly has the kindest smile.

Her laugh makes me happy.

On my way home, it occurred to me that I—like most of us I’m sure—find it so easy to see the good in others.

I see their beauty and their charisma and their successes and am quick to celebrate them, but am often not so generous with myself.

I followed that up with a giggle, thinking how often we women look for time-savers in our daily routines: ways to be more productive so that we tend to all we need to, and do it well.

And it occurred to me: perhaps we could pledge to simply cut to the chase and appreciate ourselves wholeheartedly, saving the next gal the time?

Not to say that we shouldn’t admire what is pure and lovely and right in our sisters, but if we’re all doing that for each other, wouldn’t it be more

to cut out the middle-woman?

Food for thought…

Aside from shedding a little light on the simple joys of life, tll’s other grand mission is to be a place where parents who have lost a child through miscarriage or stillbirth can find refuge, support, and the assurance that life will be good again.

To that end, I have changed two headers on the this little light menu bar so it’s easy to see what’s offered here:

If you know someone who has endured such a loss and needs some support, please share this info with them. Thank you!

  1. I love this pledge! It’s always so much easier to appreciate others’ beauty than our own, isn’t it? And I’m also thinking that this reminds me to remember to TELL my friend that she looks nice/has been kind/cheered me up today. Thank you!

  2. Love it!

Love your blog name, too. It’s really great.

  7. What a great reminder! It’s so easy to be hard on yourself and forgiving of others.
